Equally, one of the ways that a country comes alive for me is by reading books about it. Here is my take on six books set in Kenya that I’ve recently read.  A visit to the community-run Mida Creek Boardwalk and Bird Hide, on the coast of Kenya, was a great place to appreciate the birds and learn about the value of mangroves.  After several months of stressful work in Uganda, we’d been dying to hit the beach for months. And here we finally were! I guess it was no surprise, then, that we were got totally stuck along the North Coast of Kenya.  Nairobi has a bad reputation. The 2012 Westgate Mall shooting. The 1998 US embassy bombing. The 2007 post-election riots. |
