In the midst of our transit south, Bruno and I took a bit of time to visit Portugal’s two largest cities – Porto and Lisbon. What follows are two tales of our visits to these tantalizing cities, which include port wine tastings, wanders along coastlines, discussions of ceramic tiles, a sampling of Portuguese pastries, and an evening of Fado music. Brief though they were, our visits offered us a glimpse of two cities worthy of great tales.

We’ve been really lucky with the weather in northern Spain these past few weeks, but it can’t last forever. It’s time to head south for the winter! A meetup on the coast of northern Spain with our two Basque overlander friends, Josu and Ana, wasn’t just a fun reunion. It also helped to illuminate some of our early experiences in Spain, including: our visit to Pamplona, the Basque festival we accidentally crashed in Durango, our overnight in the fishing village of Lekeitio, and our jaunt to Basque Country’s biggest city, Bilbao.
