There aren’t a ton of hikers yet because it’s not as famous as the Camino de Santiago, for example. If you’re concerned, my recommendation would be to go in “high season” (or at least not low season) and maybe try walking with another hiker you meet in the overnight accommodation. That’s what a lot of women I met on the Camino did and it was always easy to find a walking buddy.
