Vlog #9: Road Trip to Mexico City

This vlog… oh man.  Has it been a pain in my side.

So, we took a road trip from the Texas border to Mexico City, right?  Well, it was before Christmas – so, like, about a month-and-a-half ago.  I figured it would take me a couple weeks to get this vlog up, what with my brother and his girlfriend joining us in Mexico for the holidays.

What I didn’t figure was that Bruno would accidentally delete all the video clips from my phone while transferring them onto his laptop.  Nor did I figure we would have no clue how to return them to my phone.

Thus began the process of me needing to learn how to use new video editing software (I use iMovie on my phone, but neither of us has it on our PCs).  Of course I procrastinated for awhile – I’d finally figured out iMovie, geez!  Then, when I finally put in the 20-odd hours to learn the new software (on Bruno’s computer), we realized that his computer is OLD.  Like, it kept shutting off from overheating anytime I’d try to save the movie as a file.

Finally we sort of hung his laptop in mid-air and rigged a hugely powerful house fan underneath it.  This worked – the computer didn’t shut off.  But something happens to the movie during the process of saving/converting it, and some of my clips have a black screen, while others freeze on an image.  We tried MANY times to fix this problem, to no avail.

As I see it, my choices are threefold – download a new video editor and recreate the movie (he-elllll no!); throw away the movie and move on, leaving this road trip to Mexico’s capital as a blank space in my Wandering Footsteps narrative (for some reason this just makes me want to quit the blog, so I’m going to go with NO on this one, too); or upload the vlog anyway and apologize for the technical difficulties.

I’ve decided to go with option 3.  At least there’s still the audio, so you get my narration throughout.  And all the clips showing our actual journey are, miraculously, intact.  It’s probably for the best, anyway – I was having a bad hair day when I narrated this video!

So here it is, my very horrible vlog of what was otherwise an adventurous and eventful road trip to Mexico City with my hubby, my baby, and my parents in tow!

Enjoy…???

And P.S. If anyone would like a non-paying job as a video editor, I’m hiring!!!
