These photos were taken on Saturday, when our class took the ferry to Goree Island. A half hour’s ride off the coast of Dakar, Goree Island served as one of the holding port for West African slaves bound for the US.
The first picture is of us approaching Goree, and the second, of us returning to Dakar after a long day. I really liked Goree Island – it is such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of Dakar. I truly enjoyed a laid back, peaceful day. And there is so much green there! I loved walking down all the beautiful stone roads, surrounded by big trees and flowers, as I watched artists paint or sculp, and listened to musicians play.
