Let’s take it where I left off. After the French exam, I went out to buy a mango and a waterbottle with a couple of other girls. We brought the mangos back to the campus, washed them really well, pealed them with our hands, and ate them like apples. Yum! And it cost me less than $.50!! Everything is so cheap here. I also bought a huge waterbottle, and between both items I only spent a little more than $1.
After, I sat outside for a little while and talked to the chef, named Pascal, of our cafeteria. He is from Senegal, but one of the few Catholics around here. Most everyone is Muslim, and most stores are closed from 1-3 for prayers, which I can hear coming from the mosques. I think I will check them out sometime soon.
A few students were out playing frisbee. I got excited and went to play with them. It was fun, but it got even better when 3 little Senegalese boys came to play with us. They were 5-8 years old and had never even seen a frisbee. But honestly, they learned really fast and were having a ball. I wish I had thought to bring a frisbee because I would have given it to them.
That night I sat outside and hung out with people from the program. There are definitely some good people here, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
