Period 7, I now have class 6. They are also a great bunch and I have a lot of fun with them. They are a small class of only 17 students and they all love me and find me so funny (I am, duh!). They are pretty good at English and move through the material quickly. Last week we put on a play about the story we had just read to make sure that all the students understood the story. Though they were a bit silly, they got really into it, had fun, and learned too! Those moments are why I am quickly beginning to love teaching. Many of the students in class 6 have been begging me to go to their houses for weeks now, so on Tuesday I finally went to one of their houses for “kaja” (snack – literally translated as “eat and go”). Next week I have planned to go to another student’s house, and this weekend I have tentative plans to go sight-seeing around Pokhara with a handful of the students. Perhaps this is not typical teacher-protocol, but I feel that I am a unique position where this is ok to do. And even though I have a fairly informal and friendly relationship with my students, I still create a learning-environment in class and therefore they still take me seriously.
