I have someone special sitting on my lap. Nope, it’s not a boyfriend – it’s a cat!
I found him on November 24th when I was coming home from school. He was sitting on the sidewalk and was so tiny and scrawny that he caught my attention. I went to pet him and all I could feel was bones, and before I knew it, I had swept him into my arms and was on my way home.
When I brought him home, I fed him a bit of tuna, made him a litterbox, put out some water, and made a little bed for him on the ground. Little did I know that he wouldn’t want to sleep in his makeshift bed, but rather beside me in mine! So, I bathed him, and we curled up together for bed. The next day I brought him to the vet and received a list of his ailments:
– ear mites
– external parasite
– internal parasite/worms
– anemia
He was very weak and tired, not playing at all despite the fact that he is a 2-3 month old kitty and should be curious and playful most of the time. He probably slept 23 hours out of every day the entire first week. Eating was also an issue. He was eating barely a small spoonful of food per day, but he didn’t exactly have any meat on his bones to spare.
Now, 2.5 weeks later, his ear mites are gone, and he has gained .14kg, has started to become playful, and has a gigantic appetite. He does meow a lot, probably because I have to leave him home alone 9 hours every day while I’m at work, and he’s rather attention starved. But when I’m home, he’s the cuddliest cat I’ve ever met. He hugs me and gives me kisses, wrapping his arms around my neck and nudging my face with his nose. He’s quick to purr, loves to be held, and wants nothing more than to fall asleep on my lap. Sorry for the crappy photo. I promise I will take better ones really soon!

It would seem, then, that I am creating a bit of a life for myself here. I now have a cat and a comfortable room with all the necessary amenities. My social life is bustling, and as extra-curricular activities, I play badminton three times a week, and I am part of a small a cappella choir in Bangkok.
