Well, I am back here in MY city – Kathmandu. It feels great to be back among the language, culture, food, and people I know. If I have one complaint, it’s the slow internet – it took me 15 minutes just to get to this page which allows me to write my blog!!
Anyway, I haven’t downloaded my Thailand photos yet, but here is, in brief, what I did.
– went to 3 different islands, one in the east (close to Cambodia) and two in the south
– jet-skied
– climbed a waterfall
– went snorkeling
– went swimming a lot in the beautiful ocean
– went on a speedboat
– got not one, but 3 massages
– saw Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater
– went to the biggest weekend market ever, in Bangkok
– ate a LOT of great Thai food
– met a lot of great people – a French Canadian couple, 2 Spanish girls, 2 Germans, and a Belgian man
– took every different form of transportation possible – tuk tuk, bus, train, motorcycle, river ferry, “songtow”, jet ski, speedboat…
As you can likely tell, it was a fun and eventful “vacation”. I am glad I went, especially because it truly solidified my decision to stay in Nepal. I like Thailand, but I think I prefer it as a vacation spot rather than as a temporary home. Now, 6 months from now if I’m totally broke, I might feel different, but right now, I couldn’t be happier about my decision to stay in Nepal.
Now, if the internet could just get faster…
