A visit to the community-run Mida Creek Boardwalk and Bird Hide, on the coast of Kenya, was a great place to appreciate the birds and learn about the value of mangroves.

Category Archives: East Africa After several months of stressful work in Uganda, we’d been dying to hit the beach for months. And here we finally were! I guess it was no surprise, then, that we were got totally stuck along the North Coast of Kenya.  Nairobi has a bad reputation. The 2012 Westgate Mall shooting. The 1998 US embassy bombing. The 2007 post-election riots.  We’ve left Uganda. Our goal is the Kenya coast. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun along the way. As we drive to Nairobi, we get back into the rhythm of life on the road. It’s good to be nomadic again!  Work is over, Kampala is behind us. Before we make a be-line to the Kenyan coast, we decide to explore a bit of Uganda. Here we make stops to the source of the Nile River and Uganda’s Sipi Falls. One impressed while the other had us packing up the next morning. Read on to find out which is which! |
