Welcome to Wandering Footsteps, the travel journal of a nomadic family on an overland trip around the world. With thirty years of travel experience, a round-the-world trip already under our belt, a newly-converted bus, and a new baby in tow, this journey is bound to be interesting! Join us in our global wanderings - we've saved an extra seat just for you!
I’ve just moved to Kampala, Uganda, to start a job as a teacher at a brand-new international school. Read about my first impressions of my new city, my new home, and my new job.
The plane touched down in Mombasa and I was in East Africa for the first time! Bruno’s niece, Lucile, joined us and we zoomed around Kenya on a two-week holiday, including beach time and safaris. It was a great mini-holiday before I start a teaching contract in Kampala, Uganda.
After almost 6 months of overland travel through Southern Africa, this travel loop is looped. As I sit at the airport, ready to head off to Canada, I reflect on the highlights of my trip and all the things I have to be thankful about.
Here I was in Zambia for the first time, and all I could do was compare it to Zimbabwe, where I had lived for over a year. The two countries share a similarity in name, culture, food, and history, after all. But for all the similarities, Zambia felt different – like a Zimbabwe minus Mugabe. It felt good to be in Zambia.
After being faithfully devoted to my blog for almost two years, there has been radio-silence for a long, long time. I needed the break, that’s the only way to explain it. Now, with a refreshed outlook and a brand-new travel plan, I pledge myself once again to writing in my blog.
Bruno - The continuation of the journey arrives or what?! Hi, hi, hi…
Bruno.
