Tag Archives: Road trips – My best travel buddy came to visit me in Morocco for a three part adventure that included backpacking in Marrakech, a homestay with Moroccan friends in Taroudant, and an 8-night camping trip with Bruno, me, and Totoyaya. It was so awesome I can’t decide which part was my favorite!  We’ve been really lucky with the weather in northern Spain these past few weeks, but it can’t last forever. It’s time to head south for the winter! We’ve started our southern migration to Morocco with a 6-day transit to the coast of Portugal. Read on to hear about all the awesome places we couldn’t visit along the way.  In this post, we answer transportation questions pertaining to overland travel: what documents and objects you require to drive in a foreign country, why you need a carnet de passage en douane, how to transport a vehicle on a container ship or a ferry, and what to expect when driving in different countries.  After thirty days, 3,300km, and eight border crossings, our arrival in France marks the end of our overland transit from Turkey. Exhausted yet with hearts and minds full of experiences, we reconnected with family across the country – and celebrated a very, VERY exciting event.  We were ahead of schedule on our overland transit to France – a detour to Switzerland was in order! This post describes our visit to a cheese factory, a medieval hilltop town, and a chocolate factory; our drive through the Alps, along Lac Lémont, and our view of Mont Blanc. Not bad for 55 hours in Switzerland, and not a bad way to celebrate a birthday! |
