Tag Archives: Travel reflections – My parents spent over 4 months RVing in Mexico this winter. It was one of their first RV trips abroad, and after hearing from friends and family (and the news) that Mexico wasn’t safe, they weren’t sure whether they should go. Read this guest post by my dad to see how they felt about their time in Mexico and whether they would ever return.  After 4.5 months in Mexico, we’re heading off to Florida and France. I look back on our explorations of northern and central Mexico and realize that, even though we were focused on family, we still saw and did an amazing amount of beautiful, interesting and cultural things! Here’s the wrap-up of our tourism highlights!  In an honest post, I share how our travel style has changed in our Big Blue Bus since the addition of a baby. Spolier alert: travel is a lot more difficult! I reflect on what aspects I have found challenging and end by divulging a somewhat surprising change to our travels.  I have decided to call 2018 the year of The Phoenix – my baby boy Phoenix, that is! For it is true – this entire year has truly revolved around welcoming him into our lives and adapting to parenthood. Truth be told, it hasn’t been easy, but I think I’m finally ready to learn the lessons this precious little creature is here to teach me. Happy New Year to you all!  In all things travel – as in parenthood, I’m finding out – we have to expect the unexpected. Oftentimes, our expectations lead to disappointment; our plans have to change; and the pleasant surprises are found in the least-likely places. That’s what our recent time in the Smokies – and Alabama – reminded me. |
