Vlog #22: Zero Waste(ish) Lifestyle Living in a Bus

Today’s Vlog is a special one in my heart, because it shares a bit about how our family tries to reduce our ecological footprint and move toward a more zero-waste lifestyle. My goal in sharing our efforts is to provide you with ideas and inspiration that you can take into your own life!

In this post, we briefly touch on all of the following:

  • how we built out our bus with the environment in mind
  • a few key eco-friendly features of our bus (like our dry toilet, solar panel installation, and water filter)
  • how a “van life” lifestyle can be more eco-friendly, because it requires you to be a minimalist and to be mindful of water usage
  • why “slow travel” is better for the environment and what it looks like to us (we give you some fun stats about our gas usage!)
  • items we pack for outings that help us reduce our plastic waste (reusable produce bags, bamboo straws, glass jars, reusable water bottles and Tupperware containers)
  • the DIY zero waste beauty products we make (multi-purpose cleaner, toothpaste, body butter, deodorant, sunscreen and facial cleanser)
  • our reusable cloths for peeing, flossing, and blowing our noses
  • why we have committed to only buying second-hand clothing

This video is jam-packed with information! If you’re interesting in hearing more about anything I mentioned here, please do let us know. I would love to make follow-up blog posts or videos on this topic! Also be sure to comment below telling us what zero-waste/eco-friendly habits you’ve integrated into your own life, as we are always looking for new ideas!
