Tommorow is the big day!

Sawat dee, ka! (Thai greeting)

I have just finished packing my life for the next year into two big bags. That was quite a difficult process because I have to pack, not only for two entirely different climates (sub-tropical and Himalayan), but I must also pack both casual wear and business wear (since I will be working/
volunteering in both countries).
It’s my last night in North America! Tomorrow morning I fly out of Toronto at 7:30am to Chicago and then to Tokyo. That’s a grand total of 15 hours in the air, 13 of them in one flight! Man, I am NOT looking forward to that at all… Anyway, I will overnight in Tokyo, which will give me the chance to get a good night sleep, relax, and hopefully see a tiny bit of the city. The next day (Thursday, by this time) I will fly the last 7 hours of my journey, from Tokyo to Bangkok.
I’ve posted a map of Thailand just for a reference point. Over the next 18 days I will travel as far South as Surat Thani and as far north (hopefully) as Chiang Mai. During that time, I will get a feel for the different towns and have interviews at several schools in the hopes of landing a job teaching English.
I will try to post something within the first few days of my arrival in Thailand but I make no promises… Just be patient and you will hear from me eventually. If you get worried, call my mom – I will have e-mailed her to let her know I’ve arrived safely.
Wish me luck!
  • Jessica - Brittany, my love, goddess of sunshine and all that is warm and good. It is obvious that you left the continent. Chicago is overcast and gray, not even a hint of brightness…and I have a feeling it will be this way for a while.

I hope your travels are absolutely wonderful. You have a way of bringing out the best in people, so you’re destined to have a good time. Take lots of pictures and keep us all in the loop. Thanks for the going away message on facebook…I felt special.

Well, take care of yourself and be careful (contrary to popular belief, one can still have fun WHILE being careful). I love you and miss you already! *HUGGS*
