There may be advantages to living in one place for an extended period of time, but there are also challenges. After living in a house in France for nine weeks, the novelty of living a normal life in a normal house was wearing off and I was able to analyze the non-nomadic lifestyle without my rose-tinted glasses on.  “Just don’t make me get my truck driver’s license,” said Bruno every time we daydreamed about our future Totoyata-replacing overland vehicle. If I’d known exactly what the process of getting that infernal truck driver’s license actually involved in France, I’d have listened to him.  Bruno and I living in a house in France right now… and our differences our coming out! Bruno can’t wait to be back inside his home-on-wheels, while I’m soaking up the comfort, luxury, and routine of domestic life. Will Bruno survive an extended stay in a house? Will I ever want to hit the road again?  We’re not the only ones living a nomadic lifestyle in a home-on-wheels. Just meet fellow overlanders Frank and Sharon if you don’t believe me. We first met them a couple years ago in Uganda, but recently reconnected with them in Spain’s Pyrenees Mountains. They had some very exciting news to share with us! |
