Category Archives: Europe Over the next month, we’ll be traveling through EIGHT countries to reach France overland from Turkey. Our first stop? Bulgaria, where we visit the historical town of Plovdiv, spend time with former dancing bears, hike in the Rila Mountains on the monastery trail, and eat a lot of French fries and feta cheese!  Our travels plans have changed again! Here is an updated plan for the rest of 2015, involving a trip home to Canada, a lot of time in Europe, and even a bit of North Africa! It’s so different from the travel plan I posted about six months ago that I’m considering no longer writing travel plan posts (except for the fact that I just did it again…)!  I was pumped for my two weeks of solo travel in Istanbul. It had, after all, been a very long time since I took a trip without a partner or friend. But after money issues and health problems, I began to wonder if I was no longer cut out for solo travel. Would I be able to enjoy Istanbul alone?  Surprise, blog readers – I’m in Istanbul! And Bruno is in Iran. It’s rather unusual for us not to be traveling together, but there’s been a bit of a complication to our travel plans. Read on for details of why we had to change our travel plans.  To walk in rural France is to step back into an era where babies were bathed in basins in cobblestone streets, women set laundry on second story lines draped above narrow alleyways, and men spent evenings sat on benches in rows facing the street, perfectly placed to watch the world slowly go by. |
