Category Archives: East Africa After five stressful months of teaching in Kampala, the school year is finished. Soon, we’re hitting the road and leaving Kampala behind for good. Will I miss Kampala, and the life that could have been here? Or will I be too excited and enticed by the road ahead? The only way to find out for sure is to keep reading my blog.  After working almost incessantly since I arrived in Kampala, I FINALLY have an adventure to report – a road trip with Bruno! We spend a week getting to know a bit of Uganda’s Ssesse Islands, Entebbe town, and Mpanga Forest Reserve.  I’m living, eating, breathing school. I wake up at 6:00am thinking about school. I get ready for school. I go to school. I come home at 6:00pm and prepare for the next day of school. I go to bed thinking about school, and at night I dream about school. Then I wake up at 6:00am and do it all again.  I’ve just moved to Kampala, Uganda, to start a job as a teacher at a brand-new international school. Read about my first impressions of my new city, my new home, and my new job.  The plane touched down in Mombasa and I was in East Africa for the first time! Bruno’s niece, Lucile, joined us and we zoomed around Kenya on a two-week holiday, including beach time and safaris. It was a great mini-holiday before I start a teaching contract in Kampala, Uganda. |
